About this place
Takotsubo’s signature Akashiyaki pairs tender, softly cooked egg batter and octopus with the restaurant’s house dashi. Diners have remarked on the generous pieces of octopus and the flavour of the broth. One way to enjoy it is to dip each piece in the dashi; another is to add sauce first, then dip. Try both approaches over the course of a plate.
Tonpeiyaki is another tempting choice. The menu’s Tonpei wraps thick-cut Japanese pork loin in egg, while Tonta is filled with spring onion and bean sprouts and served with ponzu mayonnaise. Some diners have noted the satisfying thickness of the pork. Whether you keep things light with Akashiyaki or add Tonpei for a more substantial teppan meal will shape the way you order.
For okonomiyaki, choose your fillings and toppings to make a pancake to your taste; yakisoba is also available in several varieties, with optional extras. Share Akashiyaki and Tonpei alongside yakisoba or negiyaki, if you like. Takotsubo offers options for a solo meal as well as a teppan spread with friends.
